"In a world where there is a common lament that there are no more heroes, too often cynicism and despair are perceived as evidence of the death of moral courage. That perception is wrong. People of great valor and heart, committed to noble purpose, with long records of personal sacrifice, walk among us in every country of the world."
- Kerry Kennedy

LIBERIA

March 2009 is the opening date set for the launch of Speak Truth in West Africa, working with the Sister Mary Laurene of the Catholic Justice and Peace Commission of Liberia (JPC) for the event. We are planning to hold the exhibition at the City Hall in Monrovia, the forum, and the play at the University. We hope to have a variety of Liberian NGOs joining in, including former RFK 1998 laureate Gibson Kamau Kuria, 1999 laureate Archbishop Michael Francis or his spokesperson, Monsignor Andrew Karnley, the Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Monrovia, and, of course, Defender Sam Kofi Woods, Minister of Labor in Liberia and defenders Koigi wa Wamwere of Kenya and Guillaume Ngefa Atondoko of the DRC, now working in Cite d’Ivoire.
